Newsmart has been trading from Western Road since the 1950's when it was called Mayfair. We bought the shop in March 2004 and since then it has undergone a major refurbishment.

In 2004 we replaced the counter units and the cigarette gantry. New magazine racking installed in July 2004 meant we could increase our titles held to over 450 and improve visibility of titles on the shelf. Earlier this year we added over 250 more titles and now carry a stock of over 700 titles. The space at the back of the shop, which is now home to over 250 of our jar sweets, was completely re-furbished in 2005. We have also installed air-conditioning which helps to keep the sweets (and staff) in perfect condition during our summer months. In December 2006 we replaced the suspended ceiling and installed new flush light fittings, the new carpet tiles laid in 2007 completed the major works in the shop. Future projects are still be ing considered. Watch this space for further announcements.
